Saving For CollegeFrom our childhood we dream of several things, some important and some not so important. But one thing that surely all of us think and dream about is our education. It is one of the fundamental needs of our lives along with being one of our fundamental rights. Education is one of those aspects of lives without the accomplishment of which there remains a void in our lives. As a result of this it becomes essential to complete one's education. Now you might decide to call it quits after completing your high school. But as far as education is concerned that is only a part of the distance covered. While a high school degree is not something to be ignored, it does not provide you with as firm a footing in life as is provided by a college education or any other form of higher education. Whenever you start thinking about the avenues of higher education that are open to be pursued by you, one of the first and by far the most critical problem you are likely to come up against is the paucity of funds. If you have not yet faced the situation yourself then ask the advice of somebody who has been through the grind, and you will be able to understand how bleak the situation is. So if you are really interested in joining a college, then start saving up now, before it is too late. One of the best ways to go about it is to invest in the 529 plan. This is one of the best plans by the means of which you can save up money, which can be used by you subsequently at a later stage when you will need it to meet obligations such as college admission fees and so on and so forth. The good thing about it is that it even allows you to earn an interest on the amount that you are investing. But the drawback is the lower rates of interest and the processing fees, which is charged. If that deters you then you go for other modes of investment such as mutual funds which offer a higher rate of interest. But whatever mode you use for saving, make sure you do so. It is the question of your career and the proverbial one small step that you take now might help you on taking that giant leap in later life. |
